The Flaw

Batman’s flaw is his obsession with revenge for his parents. Criminals killed his parents, so now he kills criminals. He’s going to “exploit” that flaw rather than holding it in.

Using the Flaw

Batman disagrees with Superman’s gracious tactics. He wants to focus on punishing bad guys rather than saving good guys. He wants his “rightful” place as the peacekeeper/ruler/hero of the world and is willing to kill Superman… yet also die?

The Ending

He ends up defeating Superman for the sake of revenge. He ends up ruling Gotham, but the people turn on him and get revenge on him for killing Superman. He gets a taste of his own medicine.

Why Make The Darker Knight?

There are plenty of movies out there. It is such a crowded industry. The question many producers ask is “how can my movie be seen?” The main issue producers face is that the movie is boring. The movies end with smiles. We wanted to switch that up. Go with something a little more creative. That is why we end the movie with a tragedy. Make people question if they saw the right thing or not. It will be an instant hit.

How is it a Tragedy?

The Dark Knight is a tragedy because it has optimism. Although Batman dies, he still had a chance to win. In a tragedy, the hero also must be willing to lay down his life to secure his sense of personal dignity and his “rightful” place in life. Batman shows this with his great obsession to keep winning. This also ties in with his tragic flaw. The “tragic flaw” in a hero isn’t really tragic until he exploits it; we all have a tragic flaw in us, but rather than controlling it, Batman lets it out. Also with a tragedy, the author must be willing to question everything. Only the main character is a fixed matter. Everything else can be fluid. With the creation of this story, we questioned everything to form the best possible story to show on the big screens.

The Target Audience

The target audience of The Darker Knight are younger Batman and DC fans (aged 16-35) who enjoy a change in things. The target audience enjoys tragedies and when the so-called hero loses. We expect this movie to be heavy hitter, not making it a good family or kids movie.
